1,000 Lashes lash primer and the 1,000 Lashes Fiberized lash weave Mascara by Hard Candy

I am unfortunately not born with long luxurious lashes, which leaves me on a constant quest for the perfect lash products. While shopping in my local Wal-Mart , I stumbled upon the brand Hard Candy. I had heard many wonderful things about this brand on You-Tube. So, I was totally engaged in finding my holy grail lash primer and mascara. During this time, I looked at every primer and mascara that Hard Candy had to offer. After about a half of an hour my decision was made, 1,000 Lashes Fiberized lash weave primer and 1,000 Lashes Fiberized lash weave mascara. As soon as I got home, I washed my face sat at my makeup mirror and proceeded to apply the primer first then the mascara. The only thing that happened was that my lashes were well separated. For the next week, I tried every combination that I could think of. My decision has been made, these products don't work well together, but they work better with their corresponding product, the 1,000 Lash Primer works better with another mascara and the 1,000 Lash mascara works better with another primer. The results are only average but it is much improved than when they are combined. This is only from my point of view. What might not work for me, may work for you!!!

I was not one of the fortunate women born with thick full beautiful lashes. In my professional life I am an ICU nurse, so false lashes aren't always appropiate. I am a big You Tube and Makeup alley lover. For a while I have been hearing about about Hard Candy. While shopping at my local Wal-Mart, I was suprised to find Hard Candy. Like most women and an on the constant hunt for my Holy Grail mascara. After going through this brands entire product line

Sweet Gems from Yummy Cake Cosmetics

Everyone who knows me, knows that I love finding new off the chart cosmetics. They also know that I clock in many hours looking at You Tube. My obsession is usually products for the eyes. Following my regular routine, I always go straight to my You Tube subscriptions. That particular day "Sayanythingbr00ke" was doing a Smokey Disco Ball Tutorial. She started with the lid color a beautiful, sparkling, silvery color with an equally beautiful name of "Champleve". This magnificent color is by Yummy Cake Cosmetics. Immediately after the tutorial,I went to Yummy Cake Cosmetics website. Much to my delight the Eye Paints and the Glitters were breathtaking. I couldn't resist, I ordered fourteen total. They also sell Lip Candy, which you can get in two flavors, Buttercream or Cake. The colors are equally as divine. Their face and skin care products were sold out. They will be available on September third. I can't wait to see those. The shipment was fast and it was well packed. Unpacking my eye paints and glitter was just like unwrapping a present. Fourteen jars of splendid, finely milled pigments and soft and shimmering glitter. The day they arrived , I did many different looks, using the products both wet and dry.
The pigments were easy to blend. The glitter went on easily with glitter glue. If you are looking for amazing cosmetics check out Yummy Cake Cosmetics. You can find them at www.yummycakecosmetics.com. , you won't regret it.

A sad good bye to some of my favorite Lush products:(

I guess you are wondering why I am sad. I found out that Lush was discontinuing some of my favorite products, Yummy Yummy Yummy Shower Wash Cream. The scent is delicious fragrance of strawberries and cream. Super Nova Bath Bombs that is a luscious fizzing bomb with the sent of a champagne cocktail. The underlying fragrance and essential oils of Orange, Limes, and Cognac. It has festive confetti . OK, it leaves the bathtub a bit of a mess but the experience is wonderful. One of my favorite soaps I Should CoCo. It smells like a tropical dream, with the fragrance of fresh coconut and a slight bit of orange. It has exfoliating properties with real coconut throughout. My beloved Tramp Shower Gel wonderfully exotic , mysterious and sensual fragrance of patchouli and oak moss. My favorite things are going away. I am sure that Lush will develop more incredible products, but I am still sad my favorites are leaving.

Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse Ultra- Hydrating Foundation

I have been using Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse Ultra- Hydrating Foundation for two months. From the very first application, it went on so incredibly smooth. I used two colors Caramel for contouring and Honey Beige as the foundation. It is a unique creamy whipped foundation. It endured my hectic schedule and lasted all day with just spot touch-ups of powder. This foundation has 14 hour hydration It felt light, no creasing in my problem area around my eyes and the sides of my mouth. I still have normal to oil skin, and it was still light and hydrating. Maybelline outdid themselves with this foundation. It comes in 10 shades. My hope is that they will expand there color range. It is definitely my new holy grail foundation.

L'Oreal Lash Boosting Serum and Double Extend Lash Boosting Mascara

I started using these product on June 27th. I have been using these consistently since then. The L'Oreal Lash Boosting Serum was a complete fail for me. I haven't seen any growth or additional thickness to my eyelashes. The L'Oreal Double Extend Lash Boosting Mascara was only average. Nothing to right home about, though I had high hopes for it given that I have be using L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara for years and I have always returned to it. If anyone has had amazing results, please leave me a comment below.

I have missed doing my blog!

As I was killing time at Rite-aid this morning, I noticed six colors of the Blushable Creme Sticks by New York Colors. In last nights blog, I thought there were only five. To my surprise I found another color it name is Big Apple Blush 654U. Of course , I had to purchase it. I was just as beautiful , creamy and soft. I apologize for not having all of the correct information. I am assuming that each Rite-aid can carry the same products. So there is one more your to go out and try!

Blushable Creme Sticks by New York Colors

When I was a teenager the only brands of cosmetics we could afford was the drug store brands. I must say drug store brands aren’t what they used to be they have become competitors with the high end brands. They have totally stepped up their game. I am a totally You Tube addict One of the hottest rage is the Blushable Crème stick by New York Colors. When I went out to look for it one day I went to 7 stores, 3 didn’t carry it, but 4 were completely sold out. I knew this was going to be a challenge to find them.
One day I walked into Rite Aid, to pick up a prescription. I always go to the cosmetic section first, and there were all five colors, I had hit the jackpot. Of course, I couldn’t purchase just one , I got all five of them. The colors that I purchased was Plaza Pink 644U, South St Seashell 647U, Berry New Yorker 649U, Mauvin’ Uptown 648U, and Urban Spice 646U. The colors are gorgeous. They are soft, creamy, and easy to apply. They highly pigmented, so you can where them alone or use them as a base for your powdered blush. I like the South St Seashell so much I used it as a lip color. I lined my lips, applied the South St Seashell with a lip brush and applied with a lip gloss. I received a great deal of compliments that day. This product is a definitely a keeper. They retailed for$ 3.99 at my local Rite Aid, prices may vary depending on where you live. The Blushable Crème Sticks by New York Color get two thumbs up!!

The Bronzed and The Beautiful

Every summer when a teenager, my friends and I would grease up like we were chicken on a barbecue grill. Not that I would need too, because I am of African-American descent, though on the paler side, I would love that beautiful caramel color I would become. Even though I only did that for about six or seven summers, I see the damage that I did to my skin. With age and wisdom, I take a much safer approach to getting that bronze beautiful look.
My current arsenal of bronzing powders is growing. When I decided to write this blog , I pulled seven of  them out as these are the ones I use more frequently. The  first few times I tried bronzing powers I hated them.  I looked like a big orange. The first one that I fell in love with was Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess in Soft Matte Bronzer.  It is perfect when you want that natural sun-kissed look without any shimmer.  My second purchase was Benefit's Hoola , also matte but just a tad darker. This is my everyday bronzing powder in the summer when my natural shade gets a little darker from the sun. Being the beauty addict that I am, I was making my way though Sephora one day and I saw Too Faced Bronzing powders in the colors Snow Bunny, Sun Bunny and Pink Leopard. I liked them all, but my wallet that day wouldn't allow me to have all three, so I waited. Two Face launched an awesome set that was called The Bronzed and The Beautiful, that had all three of the bronzing powers in small palette for only thirty five dollars. This was an amazing deal because I could try all three and repurchase a full size product in the one that was my favorite. The really great thing about these powders that not only are they bronzers , highlighting powders are included. This particular palette is my evening palette when I want to add that slight bit of shimmer and luminescence.  You can also do some phenomenal contouring and highlighting .  As a gift from a wonderful friend that knows me oh so well , I received POP beauty Cheeky Cakes in Beach Beauti and Babe Beauti. These two sets are a bit light for me when when it comes to bronzing but I am able to use them in a slightly different way. It comes as a duo, half  blush and half bronzing powder. So I just use it as cheek color it give a great slash of color to the apples of my cheeks. These duos would be awesome for someone with a fair to medium skin tone.
The last one I could find in my makeup room, yes don't laugh I have an entire room dedicated to makeup, was my N.Y.C. Sun 2 Sun Bronzing Powder in 718A Bronze Mist. This is a more recent purchase, so I am still working with it a bit. It is a duo , one side has a Dark Bronze with a slight bit of shimmer. The only problem with this color is that it shows up slightly orange on me. The other side of the duo is a peachy bronze with lots of shimmer. So if you don't like shimmer this might not be the duo for you. Though this side is shimmery , it's a beautiful highlighter. I will keep you updated on how this N.Y.C. Bronzing Powder works for me in the long run. If you have any suggestions or have used the N.Y.C. or any of the other bronzers please leave a comment.

Americans want freebies too!!!

As I was sitting watching You Tube last night , I happened on a new video that was posted by Laura (You Tube name Lollipop26) I am always delighted by her videos, she is so eloquent in the way she describes the products and she is always dressed beautifully  As most of the makeup gurus do,they make me want to go out to buy something new, a have a weakness for haul videos. This video was titled Makeup Haul : YSL and Free Benefit freebies, that really got my attention. What makeup addict wouldn't love free products? While listening to the introduction, my smile became a pout. It seems that it is not uncommon for fashion magazines in the UK to place full size makeup products in with there magazine. The new UK Glamaour magazine placed three different full size Benefit products in with the monthly subscriptions. You had the chose of  Benefit Bad Gal mascara, the IT stick or Eye Bright.. Like every other person that loves makeup, Laura purchased all three magazines to get all three products. The total value of these products is$ 67.00 or 47 pounds, plus the purchase of three of the same Glamour magazines. I must say this is brilliant marketing on the behalf of Glamour UK. If we purchased our Glamour at the news stand the purchase price is slightly less than in the UK. So why is it that we don't ever get these wonderful little treats with our Glamour magazine.  That is the question to ponder.
Americans want makeup freebies too!!!  What do you think, would you be willing to pay a bit more at the news stand for makeup freebies with your magazine purchase? Leave a comment below!

The wonderful world of Beauty Blogging and how it started for me!

The beauty world is a totally different place since I was a teenager. As a young girl, I would sit for hours reading Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, and every other fashion magazine and catalog I could get my hands on. Being the only girl in the family , the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, I would get all my publications from my mother and my aunt. Shopping was a magical event, we would get dressed up in our Sundays  best, as all southern ladies would. We would spend the entire day walking from store to store, OK guys, this was pre-mall .  The most magical part of the experience was walking through the front door, the beauty department was always the first department that you would enter. It was beautiful and it smelled delightful, fragrances like Chanel No 5, Joy by Jean Patou, Shalimar by Guerlain. These were the fragrances of real ladies of this time. Estee Lauder counter was enchanting. That would always be our first stop. I would look at all the beautiful bottles, that glistened. The ladies behind the counter, were perfect , face made up impeccably, and dressed to the nines. One day I would be one of those ladies.
In the mid-eighties, I got my wish. I became a part-time Lauder girl. It was just as magical as I remembered. You would be taught about the products by the head makeup artists in the company. Mind you, I had never really worn makeup. The the most amazing thing would happen , you would get Gratis, fill out a piece of paper of all things that you wanted up to five hundred dollars. I had died and gone to heaven. That is when the love affair started.  Five years later, reality hit. My father passed away and I couldn't support myself.  The only other thing I knew how to do was taking care of people. Hence, the decision to go to nursing school.

I persevered going to nursing school while I continued to work at several of the makeup counters part-time.
The once again reality hit and I couldn't continue to work and do clinical s for  nursing school. It never left me, I would be in the dorm room making up my friends.

Finally , I graduated started it working as an RN, but that passion never left. A great deal of my check would go to cosmetics.

Two years ago, with the help of a friend that was a photographer, My true love was reborn. She was hosting a speed photo shoot. The makeup artist flaked at the last minute. So from 7am until 9pm. , I made up model after model.
It was then I discovered the wonderful world of You Tube, I never forget seeing Lauren Luke for the first time(You Tube name Panacea81) I watched every one of her videos. I would spend hours and hours browsing the makeup Gurus of You Tube. And I still do, my laptop or I Touch is never that far away from my reach. So my next goal, is to be one of these wonderful people that I so admire, The always know the hippest , coolest tricks. They know about all of the makeup launch before the rest of the public. I  am somewhat shy, nobody believes that because I am such a big mouth. The thought of my video going out for the whole world to see is somewhat intimidating. I have made a few friends in the You Tube community, the person that is really waiting for me to start is Selima ( Selima77 on You Tube) She is smart , beautiful , funny and she keeps it real. One day I will show her that I can do it, but until then I will blog.

There are so many topics that I want to cover, that I don't know where to start. I am supposed to be middle-aged, but that word doesn't sit well with me. Not that I could run with the twenty year olds but I would give it a shot.  So any suggestions on where to start. Please leave a comment below

The Joys of Being a Woman.

On May 10th , I turned forty four years old. I had to stop and think where did the time go. Long gone are the days when I could use a little bit of pressed powder, eyeliner, Mascara and a little lip gloss and I was ready to paint the town red. Many times I have heard my elders say," Youth is wasted on the young", and till now I didn't know what they meant. Your twenties are spent getting you feet wet and experiencing life for the first time on your own. Your thirties are spent discovering all that life has to offer. And by your forties, you are finally comfortable in your own skin. This is the time that most of us are settled into our careers, we finally have enough money to purchase the beauty treatment that we feel that we need. By this time in our lives, it take a lot longer to get ready for those nights out.  When we were young it used to take twenty minutes start to finish for getting ready. There are more treatments , lotions , and potions than ever. I had the pleasure of being a makeup artist from the time I was seventeen to the present , with only a brief hiatus during the time that I was in Nursing school. And I have seen the changes in the beauty industry, and I know about a great deal of the what is happening in this industry.  Everyone is searching for that fountain of youth. What we have now it is also fashionable to be in your forties. The entire beginning  supermodels are now in there forties or fifties.

My sister and I sit down and laugh about how much more difficult the beauty industry had made it for women. Everyday there is a bigger, better, greater, products for us to use to keep with that  youthful look. Believe me, I am that woman that goes out and buys everything new that comes out, my sister on the other hand is the one that is way more reserved with the spending. After I try everything out I just tell her what she needs to get, how to apply it and she is good to go. I am so addicted to the beauty and fashion industry, that I have a room dedicated just to beauty related items.

This is my very first real blog. The goal for this blog is to address issues of  the forty and over population, but I also believe that I have a great deal to offer our younger ladies .

What I am asking is for anyone that reads my blog leave a comment or question on products and issues that you would like addressed.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Greetings and Salutationz

This is my first post on my first blog. I love make up. Okay, I'm addicted to make up. I'm also addicted to Internet shopping. The UPS delivery man schedules his routes around me.

Currently, I'm prepping for my first photo shoot and I'm very excited and apprehensive to be doing the make up and collaborating about the concepts. It will be "awesome" to see what develops ( no pun intended).

Hope you enjoy reading my blog. Come back soon!
